OCT - Summary

These are for five classes which cover other non-kinesiological skills, required for all those using complementary therapies. These include:

  • First Aid and resuscitation.
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Safety practices and health regulations.
  • Diagnosis and treatment verses kinesiology, evaluations and assessments, balancing protocol and procedures, post-balance and reassessment of pre-tests and pre-test activities to provide evidence of changes made. ‘Red Flag’ medical situations are recognised with appropriate cautions, management and referral for medical care.

OCT301: Client and Kinesiology Safety. Obey Health Regulations

Describe safety in the kinesiology practice workplace and demonstrate safe practice in a kinesiology setting. Identify health related legislation, regulations and protocols. Comply with health related legistation, regulations and protocols.

OCT 303: Individual Country Special Requirement

Fulfill and local requirements for health practitioner. Fulfill and local requirements for health practitioners. In NZ the NZQA requires 13 elective credits from anywhere on the NZ National Framework at level7.

OCT302: Diagnosis and Treatment vs Kinesiology Protocol

Develop an understanding of the assessment routine; diagnostic process and treatment implementation used in natural and tradition health and healing compared with the Professional Kinesiology Practitioner Protocol.

People who complete this unit are able to explain a Natural And Traditional Health and Healing assessment routine, diagnostic process and how to implement a treatment plan; compare and contrast it with the Kinesiology Practitioner Protocol and recognise 'red flag' situations.
