JAF - Joints, Adrenals, Flexibility - English
JAF - Summary
From a physical perspective, these three classes focus on joints,
their shock absorbing qualities, the ligaments that support them
and the contralateral relationships among ligaments. As always
in PKP we explore the metaphysical aspects. The physical shock-absorbing
qualities of a joint are compromised when we suffer mental or emotional
trauma or when our adrenal function is impaired.
- Joints are required for flexibility and at first glance adrenal
function may appear unrelated. However, our mental, emotional and
physical flexibility are related very much to our adrenal hormone
function.
- In JAF we look at the stages of adrenal decline and collapse
resulting not just from physical activity, but from emotional
overwhelm or
mental exhaustion and the spiritual consequences of not following
one’s life-path or of not living according to one’s
values.
- What may appear, to other practitioners, to be a simple local
ligament sprain may be the indicator of a general adrenal
insufficiency that needs life-style changes as well as the local
treatment,
if
the whole person is to be cared for.
- Decreased flexibility and postural deviations may look like
simple muscular imbalances from stress and strain but
when these do
not respond to usual measures the PKP Practitioner knows
that other
tensions have not been addressed.
- The TMJ – temporomandibular joint - and the cranial
sutures are a special study in JAF. Many people suffer pain,
discomfort
and needless embarrassment because of TMJ problems (often
associated with dental care).
- The physical ‘unwinding’ technique has another
dimension when the issues behind the up-tight mental posture
are also addressed.
Tendon tightness is as much a life pattern as a physical
condition. Strain/counter-strain is an osteopathic approach to
a painful condition
caused by sustaining a postural position over a period
of time. Addressing the mental and emotional posture adds another
dimension
to the JAF approach of PKP.
JAF301: Ligaments and Joints
Those who have completed this unit will be able to use shock
absorber, local ligament stretch, general adrenal ligament
stretch and contralateral joint ligament interlink techniques. |
JAF302: Injury, Strain and Inflexibility
Correct energy imbalance related to inflexibility. Use injury
recall, pitch, roll and yaw, strain/counterstrain, unwinding,
homolateral muscle, specific exercise selection, CIA stretch
and mixed reactivity techniques. |
